Job Title: Electrician Helper/Apprentice

Reports To: Electrician

Pay Scale: DOE

Position Summary: The helper/apprentice is responsible for performing duties related to installation, maintaining and repairing electrical systems in houses, factories, businesses, and other sites. They will help make sure that electrical systems are safe, to code, running as designed, and they help trouble shoot and repair electrical equipment. Be present during construction to install and test new equipment and systems, and come to sites to repair or maintain older, pre-existing systems.  Helpers/apprentices will assist electricians to meet daily and weekly deadlines to maintain profitability while ensuring top quality installations and repairs.  They must be willing to learn both OJT and in the class room. 

  • Demonstrate safe working practices and reports unsafe working conditions or actions.  Safety is the #1 priority.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurable by company insurance carrier
  • Be responsible for tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials that are in your possession for the company.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required (such as hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots, respirator, hearing protection, fall protection, cut resistant gloves, etc.)  Request from Safety director as needed.
  • Have a willingness and effort to learn the NEC.
  • Have willingness and effort to learn how to read blueprints, specs, and diagrams.
  • Good working knowledge of math.
  • Be able to bend, lift, carry, climb ladders, and stand on lifts and cross uneven surfaces.
  • Assist in installing wiring in conduit or cables based off job wiring methods.
  • Use of manual, electrical and battery operated hand tools, such as screwdriver, hammer, saw, wrench, pliers, drill, conduit benders, knockout cutters, wire cutters, wire strippers, wire pullers, etc....
  • Be a right hand to the electrician you are assigned to.
  • Keep a positive attitude and willingness to learn. 
  • Attend weekly training at AAE
  • Comply with all company and safety policies.
  • Have no issues seeing colors.
  • Ask questions. You are here to learn a new trade!
  • Common sense approach...if it does not make sense, don't do it.
